I need therapy...oh wait, that's why I run!

This week's been interesting.  I think the mental and spiritual part of this journey has been more exhausting than the physical part.  I don't know if I lost more liquid out of my body by crying or fromsweating.  Honestly, I am fine now.  It was just a hard couple of days.  It's funny, once I wrote it all out, in all it's brutal details, I felt better.  Like I had been to therapy.
I went for my massage on Monday.  It was great.  I was surprised that I didn't feel worse.  I guess your body doesn't hate you as much if you don't run as fast.  I walked with Janzen about a mile on Saturday night and then Sunday night.  I spent the rest of the week stretching and walking.  Then yesterday, Janzen was home from work all day and we went to get new tires put on his car.  I talked him into running with me while they worked on it.  We loaded up the jogging stroller and went about 2 miles.  It was fun to be out with Janz and it was nice to run again.  I really wanted to go farther once we got home, but decided I'd be good and not push it.  I ran 4 1/2 miles this morning to return some videos and pick up some cream cheese for some cookies I made today.  I'm sure I looked pretty funny running with a packet of cream cheese in my hands, but it was all softened by the time I got home.  I didn't even take my watch so that I wouldn't be tempted to time myself.
Thanks to George Bush and his unwise ways, I did my part to "strengthen" the economy and I ordered myself a Garmin gps watch.  I'm pretty excited to get it and try it out.  I think it will be pretty fun and will be a good training tool.  All things considered, it was a good week.

which garmin did you get?

The 305. Do you have any opinions? I already had a heart rate monitor that recorded laps and calories and did intervals, but didn't want to have to wear two watches.

I have the garmin 201 which I got a LONG time ago... I don't always trust it because it seems the satelite signal goes out way too easily... like if there are trees overhead (like while running down the street in any random neighborhood, not a forest mind you) or it's cloudy. kind of annoying. (plus the 201 is like wearing a brick on your wrist--at least the 305 is more watch looking and not so huge)

I've heard that a lot of people swear by the 305, I think. so I'll be interested to hear what you have to say about it.

what kind of HR monitor do you have right now? I'm interested in getting one... but if the 305 is awesome, maybe I should just go for that so I can have both the HR and the GPS!

Anna,
I have the Polar S610i. I've had it for about 5 years and it's been so great. I upgraded from another Polar HRM and I have loved it. I would have tried the Polar GPS watch, it's much smaller than the Garmin, but it's about double the price. So I hope it works well!

The 305 is an excellent choice. I had a 205 for a couple of years and upgraded to the 305 about 18 months back. There is no comparison... the gps accuracy and speed in finding a signal is significantly superior to the 205. Like the 201 or 205 the 305 will lose signal in dense forest or tall buildings, but it reconnects the second the signal is re-established. The lost-signal time will appear as a straight line between where you lost the signal and where it was re-established. Bit of a learning curve, but well worth it. You'll wonder what you did before you had one. M

ahh, I am so jealous! I did not assert myself like I said I would concerning this. Maybe I'll try again.
