Giveaway!

Without being too gushy and telling you all how much your positive comments mean to me and how runners really are the most kind and generous people and how much I enjoy being a part of your lives in a weird but not creepy internet sort of way... I want to give back to you and do a giveaway. I don't have any sweet hook ups with cool companies. But I have skills people. O.k. maybe not even skills, but maybe someone can benefit from my mistaken purchases.

This is my Garmin that I have used probably 20 times total in the last 3 years. It has all the cords and even the heart rate monitor. It has the CD for the computer but I do not know where the instruction manual is. You will have to find it online or have a good friend who knows how to use it. I have just found that I get myself all worked up while using it and it's just not for me. I know someone will love it though. It's spring cleaning time!

This is a spibelt that has been used once. I just didn't like it although I know there are a lot of you out there that really do. I found an iFitness one that I like more and can't see myself ever using this one again. Here again, I know someone will enjoy it and use it. It's just been sitting in my cupboard for a while.

Finally, this is my homespun crafty shirt. I made one a year ago when we were thinking of team names for the Wastach Back Ragnar Relay. Our name was Lips, Hips, and Asphalt but we were having a hard time coming up with costumes. So I thought maybe we should change our name to Bake, Eat, Run, Repeat. We could wear wooden spoons in our hair and wear aprons and serve cupcakes at all the exchanges. We stuck with our original name and loved it. But I had made up this shirt to see what we could have professionally made. Since then, I've worn it around town and I love it. I will make one for you in the colors you like and shirt size or your choice. Keep in mind that this is not really made for running in though.

To enter:
***Leave me a comment about what you love the most about running and blogging. Also tell me which one you'd like to win. I'll be drawing 3 winners. I'd love it if you follow me, but just so that I can make new friends and check out more blogs. Don't feel obligated to follow me unless you like reading my mindless dribble.
***Extra entry if you post this giveaway on your blog! Leave me a comment saying that you've done so!
Will end on Sunday April 17th and I'll announce the winners on Monday.

WOOT! The thing I love about running is when you have a good run, it just feels SO RIGHT! You gotta love the not so good runs, too, but man, when all conditions are right -WOW! What a blast!

The thing I love most about blogging is the community and unexpected friends you make. I also like to tell a good story, so once in a while I let the words flow and when I get feedback that it made someone smile or think or even snort, well, that makes me happy!

GARMIN, BABY!

Julia said...

Jen! you are the sweetest...what an amazing and thoughtful giveaway!

I love running because it just leaves me feeling healthy and alive and refreshed. I love blogging because I have a whole world out there of people full of inspiration, encouragement and support...even if we have never met...I am so appreciative of each of them!

You are super fabulous and of course i LOVE LOVE LOVE following your blog.

SO excited for this giveaway.

eeek. it is hard to choose which one I would want.

the garmin because my sis just started running and i wanted to get her one for her bday but could not afford it on my own

the spibelt for me of course :)

and the shirt because it is so cute and fun and I would get a kick out of wearing it at least 5/7 days per week :)

I love the way I feel after a long run. Freakin tired but I fell like I have real accomplished something. I had never ran more than 6 miles before last year. When I decide to do a marathon.

I love blogging. It's kind of weird, because even tho I have never met my fellow bloggers, I feel really close to them. I love getting running tip on form, how to transistion to miminal shoe, etc.

Penny said...

I love the Garmin. Already follow you girlfriend. Posting giveaway on my blog.

Yay! I've found someone else who doesn't like a Garmin!! Can we start a club?

I'd love that t-shirt--too cute! And I'm spreading the word on my blog.

I love running with my Garmin because I feel a sense of accomplishment when I see the results. But it broke on me :( and now no Garmin

I love the way I feel after a long run. Lean and strong!
I already follow you! (:
I would love the Garmin...mine is..DEAD!

Sarah said...

I love how running makes you feel good. No other way to describe it. The run can be crappy but you'll never regret going on a run.

I'd love to have a garmin!

Joanne said...

Super giveaway.
There are so many things I love AND hate about running. It's tough to pin it down. Guess the best thing about running is the sense of accomplishment after pushing yourself to limits you questioned at first. Being awed by your own ability.
I like the belt. I have the 305 and LOVE it. That's a great shirt as well.

Megan said...

I'd love to win the Garmin! The thing I love most about running is how it has the ability to make my whole day better- I feel good, I eat more mindfully, the stress goes away! I've never found any other exercise like it :)

Hannah said...

You are so so so so so cute!

The thing I love the most about running is the friendships that come from the miles logged (and the blogs read). Runners are some of the most supportive and awesome people in the universe. I'm thankful.

Rachelle Wardle said...

Seriously awesome givaway. I would love to win any of these fabulous things. What a smart idea to giveaway the things you aren't using. You are a genious!

The thing I like most about running is it simply rounds out my life and gives me balance. I feel accomplished, healthy, and proud at the end of a run. I will never be a perfect runner but I will also never deny myself of the feeling I get after accomplishing a race or an awesome training run.

Christi, Frank and Katie said...

I have just started getting into running and like when I finish a run and can feel like I accomplished something.

I would love to win the Garmin. I already have a spibelt which I do enjoy but have not ever tried another belt.

Mallory said...

What a great giveaway! I just want to say how thoughtful you are! I don't need any of them so I'm not entering, just wanted to say you rock!

Vanessa @ Gourmet Runner said...

What I love most about running...is how proud I am of my body because of it. I spend far less time scrutinizing the flabby bits or the wobbly places and spend more time saying "woo-hoo legs! You got me through that race!!!". It's great to have such a positive attitude because of running.

I love blogging...because I have finally found like-minded (aka crazy) women that I respect and admire so much. I feel like I have so much to learn from reading various blogs and it's so wonderful!

I have a Garmin already that I am in love with but the belt and shirt are awesome! I love that you made the shirt yourself :)

Mamarunsbarefoot said...

What do I love most about running? At this moment I will have to get back to you on that one.. I love the shirt!!!

Stefanie D. said...

YAY! I follow you! I am totally an endorphin junkie, which is what I love about running. Blogging...I just love the close connection that you have with people. In that none-creepy-stalker way. :)

P.S. Your kitchen...I'm kind of jealous! It looks beautiful!

Stefanie D. said...

I will be posting a link in the sidebar of my blog!

GREAT giveaways!!! you are too generous. I'd LOVE to win the Garmin. I've been trying to save up for one, but keep having to buy things like groceries - lame :)

also - super cute tshirt! you are so crafty.

i love running because then i can eat more chocolate (ha!) and it frees my mind. blogging is just plain fun. and awesome. and there are so many cool people in the blog world.

Jennifer said...

I love the freedom running gives me. I can go anywhere I want for however long I want. No one can take away the accomplishments I make when I run. Running brings me peace, energy, and confidence. There's nothing better. As for blogging, I love making new running friends and having that immediate camaraderie with people from all over the U.S.

I also just started following you but not because of the giveaway, but because I like the endless dribble :)

Jennifer said...

Oh poop, I forgot to tell you what I would like if I win! My first choice would be the Garmin but the others would be equally as wonderful!

I love running and blogging because of the accountability and it makes me proud to be able to post what I did that day regardless of if anyone reads it. I treat it more like an online journal that hardly anyone reads but that I don't have to put pen to paper :)

I follow you because I have been directed to your blog by several other blogs that I love and barefoot running facinates me!

I LOVE running because it gives me time to process my thoughts. I always find I solve problems very quickly when I'm running which gives me more time for fun when I'm at home.

I LOVE blogging because of all the inspiring people that I get to read about. I am starting to feel really connected with some of you and your words have kept me motivated during this sucky injury :)

I would LOVE to win the t-shirt. It's crazy cute. My other hobby besides running is a little cake/cupcake decorating business.

I will be posting a link to your giveaway straight away!

Zach said...

I love the run when you're so into a book on your ipod you forget that you're running. And as for blogging...well, I don't know if anyone reads mine anymore anyway. :)

I'd love the Garmin, but again, I'll take any of the prizes (my wife would like the t-shirt, for example).

trisha*n said...

There are SO many things I love about running. But mostly because all i need to do it are my shoes and a road. I can do it anytime, anywhere, and it always feels good. It's my ME time.

I've been looking at a Garmin for months now...but I'm sort of a poor college student so I'm waiting til a bit more money comes in. This giveaway would be great though!

Missy said...

Actually I'm NOT entering the giveaway because I have that Garmin already (love it!) and I have an iFitness belt that I use. But great giveaway and I love your blog!

Doran & Jody said...

SO sad that you gave up on the watch but....I WANT IT!!! Then daddy and I can each have our own and be able to upload our stats.

What I like most....I LOVE the date nights every other night running with my best friend. However that hasn't happened for awhile. But when I get better....

I already follow both of your blogs...

Let's see, what else? Oh ya...I'm off to repost your post of a post of my own!

Pick me, pick me!!!

Vanessa Kennedy said...

I love how running not only does good things for your body, but for your brain too. When I run, I mull over problems, think through my day, and relax my mind. It's the perfect workout: body, mind, and soul :)

I love how blogging makes you live with intention. When I know I'm going to blog about my day, I find myself going out on a limb, trying new things, noticing the world around me, and living my life a bit more intentionally.

Garmin. Hands-down. I've already started saving for one...

Ok so that is a really cool giveaway! And what a great idea to regift some lightly used items! I should look through my stuff and do the same! Anyways....
Why am I running? Did you ever have those dreams where you were running away from something and it was in slow motion? I hate those and felt like that was what was happening in my real life. I felt like a head attached to a poorly used body and never got to feel myself really move. So I started running and I still haven't stopped! And honestly I'm so astonished that I keep doing it I had to blog about it so there were witnesses! And I really loved that people actually read my blog and comment! Like you!
So add me to the list, and yes I really want to win that garmin! I've been looking and reading about them for a couple of months and sooo want to get one!

Geek 3000 said...

Oh and I totally posted your giveaway on my blog!

By the way, I'll be at Wasatch Back this year. Our team from '09 is returning (renamed as Team Trout Slap)!

Okay, about your giveaway. I would like 2 chances to win the Garmin, please. I tweeted this blog post, too.

When I run my mind slows, my rhythm becomes fluid, my heart and mind morph, my life becomes even. All is possible. All is good.

When I blog I attempt to recreate the fleeting moment that was. When I read the blogs of others I search for their passion and learn from their wisdom. We are a perfect community.

I have no need for any of your generous prizes, but if name is drawn I'd love that bake, eat, run, repeat tee-shirt for my pal Connie. She's an amazing baker.

Love your blog Jen

It's a good day to be alive.

I love all of the great people I have met through blogging. Its a perk that I had not expected. I started blogging to replace my shameless Perez Hilton habbit which was kicked over a year ago. Now I blog and read blogs, and comment, and enter giveaways, so fuuuuunn!

I don't have a Garmin and we are getting to the point in our running (me and the hubs run together) that we need to get faster so we can squeeze in more miles when we have the time!

Angie Bee said...

I posted a link to my giveaways section on my sidebar! Sending out a fb post to let people know that there are more giveaways linked up today!

I started reading blogs when I decided to really get healthy and explore running and nutrition. I read blogs for over a year before dipping my own foot in and I can't even begin to express the gratitude I have felt for being taken in as a real friend by so many inspiring people. There truly is so much motivation and lack of judgment in this community!

I would love to win the Garmin. I have the same one that I got off a sweet ebay deal. Turns out that it was likely because the garmin doesn't hold a charge. It dies on almost every run longer than 3 miles and I'm always charging it. :(

Stephanie said...

Posting the giveaway on my blog!

Julia said...

posted on my blog. duhhhhh.

Alma said...

I'm sorry you didn't like the garmin! I've been debating about getting one for some time but just haven't pulled the trigger. So I'd be happy to win the Garmin. Also, I bought a Nathan pouch/belt that I liked until I got a new phone last month that doesn't fit. I'd be happy to win your belt to see if my phone fits! If I win your belt & it works, I will put my belt up for grabs :)

Anyway - blogging has changed running for me. What I love most is the feeling of community. When I'm out on my own running, I feel like I have the strength of the blogosphere behind me! Also, I love appreciating the successes of other individuals. It just feels good, you know? Especially when there is so much going on in the world right now to not feel good about.

Thanks for offering the giveaway! Woudl LOVE the Garmin - have been eyeing them from years. What I love about running: the endorphins :). What I love about blogging: I don't have a blog, but love finding inspirations from the real-life runs of others -- the great ones, the "i had a bad run day" ones, all of them.

Julia said...

I don't have my own blog but I read other blogs religiously. The thing I love most about running is how alive it makes you feel. I love the feeling of gratitude I have after finishing a run - I am alive, I am strong, I am healthy, and I live in a place that I have the freedom to do what makes me so happy. I have been wanting a Garmin forever and haven't broken down to buy one yet. I would love, love, love, love, love to win it!

What a great giveaway! If I win the garmin, I am paying it forward by having as a spare in our clinic for any of the juniors to use/share on their runs or anyone who can't afford one.

New reader and love the blog. What an awesome giveaway! It's not everyday someone gives away a Garmin!

Lexie said...

What I love the most about running is that I didn't think I'd ever be able to do it. When I was 13 and 14 years old, I had major reconstructive surgery on my extremely flat feet. I had the worst case of flat feet the doctor had ever seen, and he told me I wouldn't be able to walk by the time I was 20 if I didn't get them corrected. I just turned 22 yesterday, I can walk just fine, and I finished my first 5k last September. Each time I run I just feel so grateful that my feet are capable of walking, let alone running!

And blogging is probably the greatest thing that ever happened to me because I've come across so many amazing and inspiring people. Really, what's not to love?

With that being said, I already have a Garmin but I'd love to win yours and give it to my little sister. We crossed the finish line of our first 5k side by side and I'd love for her to have a Garmin to help her with training for our future races.

I love the feeling of accomplishment after pumping out a good run and blogging is a good way to look back on moments even years later. I am dying for that Garmin 305!! I've been wanting it for a while now!

Amanda@runninghood said...

oh My Gosh Jen!!! I have to win this Garmin...well I don't have to win but oh, how I want to win so badly. I just bought the 405 but almost got 2 because my husband wanted the 405 and I wanted to keep my 205 (305 is same with HR monitor) but I ended up just ordering the 405 despite the hefty price but I have a feeling I will miss my sweet 205. :( If I win this, I could return the 405 and save a lot of money that I DID NOT need to spend right now and I could feel much happier and less stressed. It would help my Garmin Grief Process tremendously. Plus, it would make for a great blog post as follow up to my Garmin Grief and Naked Running posts. Okay, so your question,
Running. Running is my soul food. It is my happy pill, my calm, my spiritual connection...it is what makes me tick tock the most efficiently. I am the best me when I run. It is also a way for me to dig deep within myself and challenge myself. It is just for me! A way for me to escape into something that is just for me. It helps me feel focused in life and I feel like my other dreams come into focus when I run. I didn't start blogging until I tore my hamstring completely last august. I started my blog in October as a way to express my feelings, reconnect with myself, strengthen my writing voice, etc. What i didn't realize is that I would make so many GENUINE connections and virtual friendships and that I'd LEARN SO MUCH! and be SO INSPIRED. Blogging has hands down made me a better runner. So has injury.

Okay, for the sake of being made fun of, I guess I should stop on book. :) I'll find a way to post this to my blog too.

Running is my drug - reallly. I am addicted to the way it makes me feel. Nothing like having a horrible day, going out for a run, and then all my worries are washed away.

I just started a blog about running a few months ago. I love sharing my thoughts and successes with friends.

I'd love to win the Garmin!

I love running because of how energized I am AFTER I finish! Blogging is great because it lets me look back in time and reread things I wouldn't normally remember. I'd love to win the Garmin -- I am trying to transition to outdoor running, and it is difficult because I have NO concept of distance or time when I'm not looking at the treadmill screen!

Hi Jen!
I just found your blog from The Hungry Runner Girl's site!
Your blog looks great and I am looking forward to hearing about your experience with barefoot running. I am also a runner and have considered trying this after reading Born To Run (which probably everyone else did too!)
My favorite part about running is that you have the ability to do it nearly anywhere. It allows you to explore a new road, path, area and it is a time for your mind and body to think.
I am fairly new to blog world and the amount of support I have been receiving is making my experience with it so enjoyable :)

I love running because it allows me to feel totally, completely and unabashedly ALIVE. Nothing, but NOTHING, beats the feeling you get at the end of a good (or bad) run, I live for it!

As for blogging, I don't have a blog but I'd be a sad soul without yours and other running ones. They're my favourite, I need them to feel sane!

I'd loove to win the Garmin, I want to buy one eventually but student life + replacing running shoes incessantly= no way.
