Thanks!Melhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17143392629785332250noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5283852025744717899.post-86533224929067970622008-08-01T18:29:00.000-06:002008-08-01T18:29:00.000-06:00Mel, I bet we do live close to each other. As far...Mel, I bet we do live close to each other. As far as my first half, I had been running 5 or 6 miles as my long run. On a whim, I ran 9 miles one Saturday and had a friend talk me into running a local half that next Saturday. I did (she never showed up by the way) and was fine. So I think you could do it. It just probably isn't the best way to train. You could do it and then make sure you really take care of yourself afterwards and not do any longs runs for a while. And I wouldn't have a time goal. Just run it to finish. Hope that helps and good luck with everything!Jenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12870882429676385594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5283852025744717899.post-28765017198684006712008-08-01T14:46:00.000-06:002008-08-01T14:46:00.000-06:00Congratulations on the Title Nine listing! To answe...Congratulations on the Title Nine listing!

To answer your question: I'm not training for anything specific but have thought about the TOU 1/2. I've been increasing my mileage really fast and so I should probably slow it down so as not to get injured. After reading your blog I'm thinking you would say hold off and do the 1/2 when I feel good and ready. There are only three weeks left to train. How long was your longest "long run" before you ran your first 1/2?

I'm guessing that we live relatively close to each other?Melhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17143392629785332250noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5283852025744717899.post-60357119675590757792008-08-01T11:02:00.000-06:002008-08-01T11:02:00.000-06:00Jen,You are still my hero! When asked why she ran she replied "because I can". That pretty well summarizes it for me, forget the top ten list... I run because I can. Anytime you need a reminder take a walk through your local hospital or visit a sick friend. Keep running Jen, forget the speed (it'll come naturally). Never stop. Today's a much welcome rest day so I'm gonna laze around and bring out the true slacker self. ;>) MikeAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02997358515383285267noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5283852025744717899.post-60216539255080755092008-08-01T00:24:00.000-06:002008-08-01T00:24:00.000-06:00I love your blog! I did my first long run (10 miles) yesterday and I kept reflecting on how wonderful it is to be able to run at all. Not everyone is able. What a wonderful outlet running can be! Like you said, no distractions or interruptions.

I've read your marathon experiences and I think your awesome! Besides, jumping rope for that long is impressive.Melhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17143392629785332250noreply@blogger.com
